Joanna Francis - Treehouse Art Studio

Joanna Francis has a BA in Fine Art from the University of NSW and a Diploma of Education. She has worked as an art teacher for over 28 years and founded Treehouse Art Studio, an art school on the Central Coast, over 16 years ago.

Joanna also writes and illustrates picture books, with her first publication Lucia and Lawrence being nominated for the Prime Minister Literary Award. You can contact Joanna and see all the wonderful art her students create at Treehouse Art Studio on Facebook, Instagram or at treehouseartstudio@gmail.com

Adrienne Ferreira - Bravewords

Adrienne Ferreira has a BA in Psychology and an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Sydney. Her novel, Watercolours, was published by 4th Estate and nominated for the Indie Debut Book of the Year.

An author with a passion for storytelling, Adrienne saw an absence of writing opportunities on the Central Coast and so she developed Bravewords, a local creative writing studio offering face-to-face classes, online writing coaching and community storytelling projects like Stories of Place.

By sharing her love of writing craft and the benefits of engaging with creativity throughout all stages of life, Adrienne hopes to encourage more people to begin writing their untold stories. To learn more about Bravewords writing courses and community projects, visit bravewords.com.au

We are grateful to our sponsors, 5 Lands Walk, and P J Donnellan & Co Solicitors for assisting with the public delivery stage of our project. Their support has allowed us to hold an exhibition of the illustrated stories and to create a booklet.

Special thanks to Pauline Wright for welcoming Stories of Place into 5 Lands Words, allowing us to celebrate our project with the broader community.

Finally, we’d like to thank all our writers, artists and their families for contributing to Stories of Place, strengthening community storytelling on the Central Coast.
